The St. Lucy's Primary School is a small school with a roll of 118 students. It is set on the hill in Trents, St. Lucy. We pride ourselves on being a beacon which draws success and excellence in both the physical and educational development of our students. Here the talents of each child is honed through committed teachers and ancillary staff who work steadfastly towards student achievement.

The St. Lucy's Primary School is privileged to be a Phase 3 EDUTECH school with technological facilities such as a fully function Computer lab and Information Technology Coordinator, laptops, tablets and Chromebooks. We were very successful in implementing strategies to teach students technology before, during and after the Covid19 pandemic.

Students during an Information Technology Lesson sat at a distance with the Information Technology Coordinator sanitizing each laptop after each lesson.

Post lockdown, students brought their devices to school and continued to access materials and assignments from the Google Classroom.

At St. Lucy's Primary School we want to be a leading primary school recognized for excellence in teaching and learning. We envision students being engaged in curricular experiences that focus on inquiry-based and hands-on learning. Students are efficient in using technology and can use it to aid in their own educational success. Teachers are competent in using technology to support all learning across the curriculum.

The world has become very dynamic. As anticipated technology has therefore evolved tremendously over the years and has significantly impacted the daily lives of many. Children expect animation, and digital experiences to be part of their daily school lives. Dejonge and Primus (2019) states that technology empowers productivity, promotes efficiencies, and creates opportunities for transforming learning. Technology facilitates collaborative, data-informed instruction and adaptive learning experiences which meet the needs of all learners. Our technology-rich learning environment promotes and supports the transformation from boring, traditional teaching and administrative methods to newer and more innovative approaches.

Our digital strategy is necessary because it provides a rationale and an action plan for integrating Information Communication Technologies into our teaching, learning and assessment practices throughout the school over the next five years. It guides the purchasing of equipment and software and the provision of the necessary professional development to support the goals outlined.
